Situated in the east of India, West Bengal is stretches from the Himalayas in the north to the Bay of Bengal in the South. DarjeelingTiger Hill

Situated at an altitude of 8482 ft and approximately 14 kilometers from the town. Tiger Hill is famous for its magnificent view of the sunrise over "Kanchenjunga" and the great Eastern Himalayan Mountains. Even Mount Everest, the world's highest peak, is visible from here.

Batasia Loop

This Railway Loop is considered a marvelous feat of engineering. It is fascinating to watch the toy train wind its way round the loop. There is also a War Memorial constructed in the memory of brave sons of Darjeeling who died in different action since 1947.

Lloyds Botanical Garden

A colorful garden situated just below the Market Motor Stand. It contains a representative collection of Himalayan plants, flowers, orchids etc. The green houses are well merit a visit.

The Shrubbery

This beautiful garden is situated on the Jawahar Parbat behind Raj Bhawan.  An excellent place to view the Kanchenjunga Range and Singla Valley.

Happy Valley Tea Estate

One of the many tea gardens in this hilly region, this is one of the nearest, approximately only 3 km from the town. Watch the processing of the world famous Darjeeling tea here.

Darjeeling Rangeet Valley Passenger Ropeway

At North Point about 3 km from the town. The first passenger ropeway in India.

Lebong Race Course

About 8 km from the town, it is the smallest race course in the world. The complete lap is only 480 yards in length. It was laid out in 1885 as a parade ground.

Garg World Amusement Park

Situated at a distance of about 4 km. On Gandhi Road it is a new amusement park and has a variety of attractions.

Darjeeling Toy Train

The Darjeeling Toy Train was inaugurated in 1881 and is considered an engineering marvel. It runs between New Jalpaiguri railway station and Darjeeling. If visiting don’t miss a chance to ride this train as it is an experience in itself. The train as it goes up towards Darjeeling provides spectacular views of the Himalayan peaks, water falls and tea gardens around the city. The Toy Train takes about six and a half hour to cover the 75 km distance to Darjeeling from New Jalpaiguri railway station. Private taxi service is also available and this cuts your travel time to less than half. The cost of the taxi is approximately Rupees 500 but be prepared to bargain, tell the drivers that you would like to stop on the way to take photographs etc or they rush you down so they can get other fares. Even though you save time by taxi the Toy Train journey is worth the extra time.  Darjeeling is the most famous hill station in West Bengal and is said to be the queen of all hill stations in India. It is famous for its natural beauty, clean fresh air and year round pleasant weather. DARJEELING (General Information) Altitude: 2134 and above. Climate: Summer--15-23 degrees C. Winter--2-10 degrees C. Best time to visit: April to mid June, September to November.
